Seriously, they're fun, tossable, not grossly underpowered, and practical for anyone who doesn't need to haul more than 1 person and/or any significant amount of stuff. The one I owned for 2 years made many a trip to the warehouse club with me with no problems finding places for all the stuff, especially on top-down days. Great in the snow with decent snow tires - I passed many an SUV stuck in ditches with mine crusing competently down the middle of my lane. You should ask Pascal for his thoughts as he has gone from a Contour to a GTI, if my elephant memory serves me correct.
