Fan controlled by PCM (Powertrain Control Module) which receives info from coolant temp sensor on engine.
The 4cyl runs hotter than v6, so a normal of 'A' on gauge with lo-speed of fan coming on at 'L' would be considered typical operation. If temp climbs higher, or with a/c on, then hi-speed of fan comes on.
Believe your car has one fan.
