Ok In order this is what I did...
1) Put ProGard in gas tank
2) Used foam cleaner on engine, did not cover anything
3)Checked Autolite Platinums, gap was .7!
4) regapped to spec-1.3mm
5) Changed pvc valve
6) Started engine, bad sputtering!!!
Any Help? It's a Zetec, it ran pretty good but needed cleaning , new valve and the plugs were way off.
Too much too soon?

I would check the hoses attached to the PCV valve and make sure that they are on tight.

Did you check to see if you put the spark plug cables on in the right order and are they on tight?

I also believe that the gap should be closer to 1.4mm than 1.3mm.

1.3mm=0.051"
1.4mm=0.055"

I would think foam was the culprit, next time cover the ignition coil and wires. Presumably problem disappeared as engine dried out.

Re spark plug gap: 1mm = 40 thou

Zetec 1.2-1.3mm, 48-52thou
v6 1.3-1.4mm, 52-56thou
err on high end of range.

Sorry for the mixup. I was unaware that the gaps differed between the engines.

As it turns out, the right plug wire was not seated properly. It just wouldn't "snap". So I crimped the end a little bit and wala.
The fuel filter was changed around 3000 miles ago.
After all is said and done, it runs much better. Thanks for all the suggestions.
I am planning more work for the car. She runs like a sewing machine.

Thanks
