I finally got my oil pressure guage (autometer phantom) hooked back up. When I start it up, and for the first 15 minutes or so of driving the guages seems normal (idle at 25psi and mostly anything above idle is 50psi) but after a while is starts reading 1/2 that. At idle it's 12.5psi and while driving it never goes over 25psi. We couldn't get the sensor in the block, so it's in the head under the throttle body. Any ideas...?

First, what you need to do is come back to the Quad Cities. THen you need to let me take a look at it because I know what I'm doing when it comes to oil pressure. Acctually... I know everything about everything. I am the all knowing. I know that I know everything because I know everything. End of that tangent that I went off on.

Steve- Man did I need you to be here these couple of days. frown I just got bent over yesterday doing crap to my car, and it would have saved me some serious dough if you were here. D'oh! :p

Good luck with getting that sensore fixed and give me a call when you get back to the QC.

It is happening to me aswell. When I initialy turn teh car on its at 12.5 and when im on the highway it reads max 25psi. This is my second sender and the first one when installed read 25 at idle and 50@WOT.After a while of being installed it to went to 12.5@idle and 25psi @WOT. do you think that this is normal?

Since my car doesn't have a gauge on it, I don't know what the normal readings are for a Contour, but it is normal for the readings to be higher with a cold engine. The oil is thicker when it is cold.

What kind of stuff did you do to it? Hold off on anything else and we can take a look at it at least... I'm really worried about this oil pressure thing because it kinda sounds like my engine it knocking when the pressure is low like that... frown We will do your clear corners next week sometime by the way... smile
