Umm, no, a dual exhaust has more bends(slowing down exhaust flow), more piping and an extra muffler(again slowing down exhaust flow and adding more wieght to your car).
weight differences can be fixed by using different materials, like it's even a big difference. I mean a small enough dual exhaust with bends, etc. would perform like a single exhaust because it would be just as restrictive.

Me too. Then it all would have been put to rest. Too bad I don't have enough money to dyno twice.

I did. SVT exhaust netted about 2HP peak over stock exhaust w/out resonator.

Was that 2HP with or without an intake? Because that's pretty good if it is just the exhaust gain. I was thinking about picking up a highflow res from Stazi and getting the mufflers taken off. I like it loud!

Dang...now I can't remember. I think it was w/ my hacked up stock intake. Either way, the intake wasn't completely stock - I know that much.

what do you mean more bends in it mine just has a split where the bend would be for the stock single exaust.
What does your split look like Joe? Is it a "T" split like the SVT exhaust, if so those are rumored to be a pretty poorly engineered split. You have a pipe going to the passenger side of your bumber right? That pipe has bends right? thus you have more bends than my single exhaust.
Kremi, i think your missing my point, A quasi dual exhaust is MORE RESTRICTIVE than a well made single. When you talk about necking down a quasi-dual to make it "as restrictive" as a single you aren't really making any sense.

say u have a 4" dual exhaust, it's less restrictive than single exhaust with small pipe. say you have 2 1/2" or 3" dual exhaust, it's about same as single exhaust. Remember you may have more bends, but you have more pipe. Also, no matter what way you look at it, joe's exhaust is not more restrictive than your exhaust. In fact, it's one of the less restrictive exhausts on here, next to hector's and wannabe's. It also sounds real good. You have to think about more than just bends (although joe's has few bends I'm guessing), there is also pipe size and how restrictive the muffler is that affects everything.

A dual would be more restrictive. If you ran the same size pipes as the SVT, but only had a single out then you would have better response because the air doesn't have to split..it just goes straight out. I knew that the SVT exhaust wasn't the best option for my Zetec, I just thought it looked cool. All show (since I can't afford go ). But if I can get my money together and get a CTA that would at least improve my "go".

my split is NOT like the SVT's it is a Y split not a T split. and to anyone who thinks the SVT exaust is MORE restrictive has never looked at the SVT exaust which is 2.5" going into the res and 2.5 out of the res and 2.25" after the split.

Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.
