Hey! Can anyone think of a way to dim the indicator light (other than unplugging it.) Those people at Ford never figured that someone might be driving in fog at night, the glare of the light off the drivers window is terrible.

What bulb does it take? There might be a smaller, similar type bulb that you could use. I would look, but I dont have a fog switch.

BUY LEDS FROM MY GROUP BUY, THEN INSTALL THEM WITH A 500 OHM RESISTOR, IT WILL DIM IT A LOT, VERY HANDY. MINE WAS VERY BRIGHT, AND MUCH BRIGHTER WITH TWO LEDS (USUALLY YOU INSTALL 1 LED) ANYWAYS, I PUT IN A 500, AND IT DIMMED IT A BUNCH, VERY HELPFUL, AND LOOKS MUCH BETTER

I unplugged mine. i had the exact same problem. just gently pop the panel off, and there is one of those plastic connectors that you can just unplug. its easy to reconnect if you change your mind. I've never regretted unplugging that stupid thing.
now officially a troll, i guess. used to have a black 96 SE, until it broke down one too many times.
now I'm hunting for a motorycle.

A wee bit of paint or liquid paper on the tip of the LED will do the trick. I used liquid paper on a high beam LED in a VW I used to own.
Is it a pain taking the instrument cluster out of the contique? If its not too much trouble I'd like to do that to my high beam and my fog indicator.

Nope, it's pretty easy taking out the cluster.
Just pop off the clock with a screwdriver and the other surrouding trim pieces and unscrew the 3 screws you uncover.
Then look right above the cluster, and there's 2 more screws holding the main dash panel in place. Getting those out (and back in) was, for me, the most difficult part by far. They're way up embedded in the panel and impossible to see. A small phillips screwdriver and a lot of patience will get them out.
Lower the steering column and slide out the panel. You'll then see the cluster all by itself in the dash held in place by 5 screws -- 3 in the bottom, 2 in the top. Unscrew those.
Slide out the cluster, reach behind it and unplug the two plugs in the back, then pull it all the way out. You then have full access to all the bulbs.
Total time, maybe 15 minutes. You could take it out, replace the bulbs, test them, and replace the panel inside your lunch break, easy.
And you only need 2 tools. A small Phillips-head for all the screws and a flat-head screwdriver to pop off the trim pieces and aid in unplugging the plugs behind the cluster.
