Hi everyone,
I just recently installed indiglo gauges on my SVT and I have this feeling that I may be off a little in the Speedometer reading.
I was doing 65 according to the speedo and everyone was passing me....with ease.

The tach needle popped off while installing teh gauges but that seems to be fine now. I attempted to redline, and it redlined normally.

So is there a way to ensure the speedo needle set to zero? If anyone can help out......please do.
I may be bringing this in tomorrow to get it read through the OBDII scanner.

For example: If I drive up to 65 mph (OBDII) and the speedo reads 75, would I just adjust the needle to 65 mph while moving? Or is there a way to do it while stopped - in a garage sort of speak?

Thanks! smile

While you are in traffic, put it on cruise control and roll down your window; yell at the fine girl next to you in her car. Ask her what speed she is going, set your speedo-needle accordingly; then ask her for her number.

Whala!

Have any friends that are cops? That'd be an easy way to check it out. Radar...

I would try it with a friend and an OBD-II code reader. Set cruise when you reach the speed you want. Have your friend reach over and install the needle. I dont want to say you could have him steer while you install the needle. eek Even though that would probably be easier. You could always put the car on jackstands and do this too. Then you don't need the other friend to help.

Just a few ideas. laugh

Ouch, just imagine the stand giving away while the car is "doing" 65mph! HAHAHA, especially if he is working in his garage eek

I had my Grand Am up to its fuel cutoff (118) in my garage. I had a vibration that I couldn't find, so I took off of the tires and ran it up to speed.

The Contour, at least the smaller brake cars, is like the Grand Am was. If it fell off of the jackstands with the tires off, it would land on the ball joints. The vehicle would stay where it was.
