They don't seem to be familiar with the correct years or engine types for the Mystique. That kinda raises a red flag to me, but then again I'm real paranoid about dropping that kind of cash.
Also, when I had to get a reman'ed tranny the warranty was 18 months/18000 miles, not this 6/6 or 12/12 for $150 more crap.

I wouldn't buy any transmission from anyone who states that the Mercury Mystique, from 95 - 2001 has a 3.0L in it. Especially the 2001 version...

It probably won't even fit. They said so many things wrong in that auction. The biggest thing being they said it'll fit both the 2.0 I4 and 3.0 V6. First off, there were no 3.0 V6 Mystique. Second, the bellhousing for the Duratec and Zetec are different.

lol, thats why i posted that link... i thought it was rather funny how it was advertized for the 3.0 that the cars never came with! i hate when people post things on ebay like that... like just a few weeks ago some guy had a mystique on there listed as a 6cyl both in the options AND in his written description, yet showed a picture of it with the hood open to reveal the ZETEC lol. DUHHHHHHH, lol. anyway, i ended up finding a few good trannies locally.

Dean, Don't get a 95. There were over 100 revisions on the CD4E from 95 to 2000. Most to combat the Torque converter burn up and soft shift/miss-shift issues. I would find a rearended 2000 or get a new unit from Ford. I think the CD4E is still put in the FWD V6 Escape. You might need to double check the gearing if it is. Best of luck with finding one. To think I have a 95 Tranny to sell too. Oh Well.

Lee, how could i do a 2000 to 95 swap? is it not true that the electronics are different for the tranny's?

I believe that all the wiring to the transmission is identical. I'll look in my electrical manual. I know that the ABS wiring is. In most cases with our cars if the wiring is significantly different you can just use the old sensors and electronic parts with the new Mechanical.

One immediate difference is the speedometer cable. 95 has one, 96 on doesn't. I don't know that the later trannies have any way to connect them. The ECU on the 95 uses a speed sensor on the cable to determine vehicle speed and the cable works the speedo in the car. So using a later one will mean your speedo doesn't work.
I bet when the rebuild is done, they put the latest revision hardware in. A rebuilt 95 should have the same wearing pieces as the later models. I could be wrong, but this is usually how this is done.

Rebuilds typically don't change the valve bodies or the actually gearings just the wear parts like the clutches and the torque convertor. Unless there is a more serious problem. Alot of issues with the CD4E are in the valve body and cylinders. Also the 96+ have a VSS with a gear that goes into the tranny. I'm willing to bet that even though it's done by wire that it is using the same spot as the Speedometer cable. I just don't see Ford changing the casting for just that.
