Hi All,
My Contour has 107,560 miles on it. I had it used, so I have no ideal that the original water pump had being replaced before or not. I am now preparing myself for replacing it. Based on the Haynes manual, the water pump hiding behind the timing belt, so I need to remove the timing belt first. I am intimated to remove the timing and additional attention is needed for the cramshaft position when putting back on the belt. I replaced a water pump on a GM car before and I am handy person. My questing is how difficult it is to replace it on the contour? Is it way above my head? Can I just but dot marking on the belt and the pulley and make sure I align them when putting back on? Has anyone done this on this model before?
Thanks,
Tony Wong
