I have a filter wrench that looks like a big channel lock plier, I've seen them at the NAPA store. I got mine from Griot's. Works really slick, it's a breeze to get to the SVT filter.

May sound stupid but I put a pair of rubber gloves on my right hand to get a better grip on the filter and it has worked where other things have not. The fram sure grips may work good for you also.

I bought a wrench for the wifes mini-van that works flawless on a 3/4 drive wrenchs, got it at discount auto parts for 10.00 dollars it only loosens the filter and it enlarges when you tighten it to fit the filter.
