Before anybody says those cars are ugly, they should have a look at this monstrosity.
Ugliest car ever?

Perhaps it's still humorous that BMW owns Rolls Royce?
Either way, BMW makes ugly cars, whether or not they carry the BMW nameplate.

You can't look at a M3 and say its ugly. That car along with the 7 series and the M5 and some of the sexiest sedans I can think of. BMW=beautifull
But I must admit the 5 series pics above look like shcitt.

That's what we just said throughout the thread. current 5 series, 3 series, old 7 series, etc = nice. The new stuff looks like crap. The current 7 series it a joke, as is this new 5.

Most certainly, the M-series (the 3 and the 5) are very worthy of carrying the BMW nameplate, and I'll agree that you can tell they are Bimmers from 10 miles away. Although they are rather understated (read: boring looking) cars, which I didn't like at first, you have to appreciate that almost anybody would have trouble telling the difference between an M5 and a 540iS. Sexi cars indeed!
The new 7 though, is just disgusting. The front of the new 5 (headlights and grille) aren't as bad as the 7, but the rear is just as bad, if not worse. I don't get why the trunklids on these cars look like they were an afterthought (perhaps installed on a Saturday night right before a party at 11 pm), but overall BMW is a designer of great cars that are crashing hard.

At first when the 7 series came out I was like eek....eye sore but then i started seeing them more often and they began to grow on me. This is what this new 5 is doing to me as well.... but i'll admit they look too softened up now. But i'd still get one.

BMW's misguided response to getting hammered in the major markets by Merc's sleek new E and S class models?
I need to see one in person as pictures sometimes don't do the design justice. The Roller on the other hand is a great statement of pompous arrogance - I love the look!

The BMW dealer here has a few 7 series, and 4 Z4s (they are the only SAskatchewan dealer as far as I know) The Z4 at first looked nice, then I got up close to see the details, and was horrified. What the hell is with the side marker lights? That is the lamest thing I've ever seen. They cut a hole in the fender to put in a giant orange light with a giant BMW logo on it? I always thought BMW was understated elegance, not wretched excess. What they need to do is fire the designer, and pump more money into thier interior design. The dual instrument panel look in the 7 series and now this 5 series is downright ugly. BMW is always trailing Audi and Mercedes in this area. Now they are trailing in the styling department as well.
