The overall shape is like a passat. The back retains the 5-series trunk, but the taillights are wierd. This is going to take a while to get used to. I suppose it will be like the taurus from '96 and we'll view it as an improvement ten years from now. Unfortunately things have to change.
Oh and the 3 series will get the treatment soon. I just wish they would evolve the look like the z3 to the z4.

You can do a better job and you SHOULD be trying to get your stuff out there. You know we would all love to drive around in one of your creations! So get hoppin'! I can see the personalized license plates now...

Makes me feel bad tht I love the M3 and 7 series so much. That thing is hiddius. BMW realy f**ked up this one. Kinda like Hondas new Accord. Ugly and not worthy of the BMW name.

Ever since the early to mid-nineties, BMW has completely sold out. Their production numbers have increased, while their quality has severely decreased. Alot of the time when volume goes up, unfortunately, quality suffers for the sake of the bottom line. Their attempts to sell alot of vehicles based on their "Good Name" is coming back to bite them in the arse. I mean, they even went so far as to build an SUV (SAV in BMW-speak). Porsche also is well on its way to selling out. But at least they make the point that in order to stay independent, they need to sell SUV's. BMW just wants to sell more vehicles.
And would somebody take the pencil out of Chris Bangle's hand! What is he thinking??!!! Buy an Audi....
Black 98 SVT E0 SOLD!!!!

I have to agree with most of the sentiments posted here ... that car does NOT look like a BMW. if anything it reminds me of the new Lexus ES300, which is stupid looking! Cars like the current gen 5 series, 99 -02 3 series, VW Jetta and Audi A4 are some of the most handsome designs on the road. I even like the CTS and think it just needs to have a less chunky looking butt, the front is cool looking!
But that car, along with the new 7 - ugh, too much going on there. I would never consider one because it is so ugly looking. I have also heard horror stories about quality in the new 7. Honda unfortunately is taking the same route with it's cars, I think the prevoius generation of civic/accord are far better looking than what they have now (except the new coupe, that is nice!)
