My engine went, but the water pump was still going strong at 116,000 miles. And my car was built in mexico. Did anyone ever check to see if maybe there was a connection between the bad pump, and where the car was built? I know the pumps were probably shipped in "just in time" for the assembly. Could it have been the fault of where the pump was made? Incidentally, the svt engine came with a new pump, so I used that to be safe.
