The many posts about water pump failures definitely have me nervous, and I'll probably replace mine before it goes bad.

However, I have a nagging suspicion that contour.org owners may be experiencing a greater failure rate, or failure at earlier mileage/age, than the general Contour owner population. My unscientific reasoning: contour.org owners are enthusiasts, and enthusiasts tend to drive their cars way harder than 'regular' owners. It's possible that driving style has absolutely no bearing on the water pump failures; I really have no idea if I'm talking out of my arse on this.

My 95 SE is at 73,000 miles. I don't know what happened before 50k, but the water pump hasn't been changed since I bought the car at 50k so I assume I'm running the original.
