It all started when I clipped a curb with the left rear wheel. Now it flashes intermittly (sp). Always when it's cold and usually when I accellerate. Imagine a loose wire making contact (causing a light to come on) every now and then. That's the kind of flashing I'm talking about. I've inspected the brakes and don't see anything unusual. They look just like the right side. Is there any kind of sensor in that area that could have gotten damaged. I don't have ABS. Can anybody help?

Check your brake fluid level, low fluid switch could be activating warning light.

A year ago one of my sons did the same on my '97, except wheel was knocked 30 degrees from straight and lower rear control arm buckled and had to be replaced. My cars have ABS and no such after effect occurred.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that handbrake cable is tied to part of suspension and perhaps now cable is being pulled (tightened) by suspension causing warning light to come on. Not familiar with details of handbrake lever switch operation as it requires removal of console.

Keep us posted on your findings.

I had the same problem on my 99 se sport. My front brakes were in need of replacement. Once I put on the new pads and rotors everything seemed to go away. Maybe since the caliper didn't have to extend so far out it changed the level of the fluid. So maybe you just need a little more fluid.

Hope this helps.

I think I've checked the fluid, but i will double check it. Horseydug, I've disconnected the parking brake switch at the parking brake and it still has problems. I've got 60,000 miles and still haven't replaced the front pads. I will check the fluid and change pads if neccesary. There aren't any ill effects besides the light flashing. Thanks for the advice.
