My dome lights no longer work after getting my car repaired at the dealer. It appears that they fix some things, but mostly break more than they fix. There was a wiring harness replaced for the side airbag due to a short in it (could be why the airbag blew out). What I noticed was that the alarm led would blink all the time, even when the car was running, and now it only turns on when the car is turned off. I have not yet checked the fuses (that is my first step!) due to the -30 degree weather we have been having up here. What I wanted to know is if the fuses are not blown, what may be disconnected/shorted or busted that could cause the dome lights to not light up at all? (everything worked fine before)
In case some of you try suggesting to take it back to the dealer let me tell you that taking it back to those idiots has to be the last thing I would possibly want to do.
Well I checked all the fuses and they are all ok. I also noticed that the sunroof has stopped working as well (only checked recently since I would not open it during the winter). The Ford cd points to an interior lighting relay and a 40amp fuse for the sunroof. I cannot check the relay but the fuse looks good. I checked around the interior fuse box but nothing was disconnected or blown (cannot confirm on relays). I also took the upper console apart and no wires were disconnected or broken. Everything else works fine, keyless entry, alarm but the interior lights and sunroof do not, the console does light up with the warning lights as usual.
I realize that most users on here are not Cougar owners but may share some similarities in their Contours and such, any help/tips would be really appreciated.
