Look on the inside of your door jam or inside your manual for the weight of your car.

nope, the door sticker will show GVWR or Gross vehicle weight rating which is the maximum weight your vehicle is designed to handle, the actual weight of the car is considerably less.

(of course, base curb weight might be on the sticker too, but I don't think it is)

It's all about balance.

Neither of which will give you the correct number either.

One gives estimated weight fully loaded.
One gives maximum gross weight allowed.

Just go to the local truck scales and get it weighed. Some salvage places will do it for you as well.

Make sure to have a full tank of gas so you can accurately know your true weight. (impossible to guess a partially full tank)

I went to the scales one day with a stock SVT and my golf bag (20 lbs?) in the trunk. With half a tank of gas, the car (without me) weighed 1400kg +/- 10kg, or 3080 lbs +/- 22 lbs.

I did a weight distribution check too, and I think it was 62% front, 38% rear.

Interesting tidbit, if nothing else.

Mine was 2975 lbs with about a quarter tank, and without any other baggage (subs, bags, etc).
