So they are asking to sign a Petition to protect the potentially unconstitutional CHANGES done in 1954 to our Pledge and 1956 to our Motto. And now they are attempting to CHANGE our national anthem.

Now who is being 'liberal'? Who is rewriting history and tradition?

Our Pledge:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Our Motto:
E Pluribus Unum

Protect our history, protect these words.

The petition is to protect the ability of those who would like to say "GOD"-gasp!
It's to stop the leftist radicals from suing states to remove "In God We Trust" from buildings and currency.
It's about giving those with faith equal rights and protections from those who wish to secularize American culture.
If you don't like "One nation, under God", don't say it. But is it worth suing over?
What is unconstitutional about the word "God"?
It does not sponsor any specified God. Could be The God of the Bible. Could be the God of the Torah. Could be Allah, who is claimed to be God. Could be money, as there are many who worship it. Could be Vishnu, one of many Hindu gods.

More like BRAINWASH little children into religion before they even know the concept of 'god'.

Does the petititon intend to allow people to substitute or add whatever words they want to the Pledge? If not, then it's not about Freedom.

It's not my god, but it is my country.

Do corporate logos "brainwash" you into buying their products? Does the confederate flag that remains on certain HISTORICAL bulidings in the South "brainwash" you into being racist? You're telling me that the phrase "In God We Trust" on our currency is actually a ploy to FORCE religion on the US population, especially when church attendance and religious affiliation has been in decline for a numebr of years?

I'm willing to bet 10:1 most hardly noticed the logo on US currency before a small group of people with nothing better to do got their panties in a wad about how those 4 words "supposedly" manipulate little children into becoming God-Nazi's...

...give me a break. People can be easily swayed, but the vast majority aren't that flagrantly weak and simple-minded.

Well that is ironic. Because for YEARS religious nuts have been complaining about the Atheists, Gays, 'Evolutionists' etc of BRAINWASHING the youth!

BTW, do you think we should have ONE Pledge, or ANY number of them?

Frankly I think it's sad that everything that we wer founded on is being washed out. We were based on religious freedoms. Two things, instead of God everyone has the right to change it to their own almighty. I just think that removing it from all buildings and such is a waste of gov't time, money, and wiping away the hard work of our founding fathers. This country was originally founded by God worshipping individuals. Just becuase the face of our country has changed doesn't mean we should erase the past nor suppress the future. If someone said Allah instead of God i wouldn't be offended in the least. Hell in the end almost all religions believe in an all powerful being, he/she just have different names base on difference languages.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Besides, I always thought that the word "God" was about the most non-denominational, non-specific name for a deity that there was. It's not Allah, or Yahweh, or Buddha, or whatever...each of those is a specific name for a god.

<stand by for weird associative description> It's like, you've got all these different car owner groups, and each group likes their own car the best, but in the end...don't we all call ourselves car enthusiasts?

You get what I mean.

Since the new Motto, Pledge, 'under God' in money, none were from the hard work of our founding fathers, changing them has nothing to do with foundin fathers.

You want to see another waste of Gov time:

Yeah, I get it. It's not which god you worship, as long as you worship a god. Because if you don't worship one, you are not one of 'us' patriotic americans.

Is that how we draw the line for Patriotism?

Yeah, but try convincing some extremist with a serious weed up his a$$ of that VERY valid point...

I'm guessing in the end of things, they are going to have to try two tactics:

1) Legally prove that the drafters of the changes SPECIFICALLY meant the Judeo-Christian God and no other or

2) Scream that it violates seperation of church and state, due to it's possible connection to ANY deity.

Who knows how it will end up...
