Not ignorant at all. And exactly right. Put your gaskets on the UIM...see if the gaskets cover any of the port, or if the ports are centered in the gasket holes. If either is off...grind/file/dremel the difference until it all lines up. The take that gasket and plop onto top of LIM...and match it up the same. ONLY do this to the LIM if its off the engine (I know...duh, but just to be safe). You're not gonna see 12 sec qtr times from all this, but you will get a sytem operating at its peak, and if the castings were off, you can pick up some good hp/tq.

Most of the big # guys on here look at and optimze almost everything that they bolt on their cars, from headers to MAF adapters to TBs. A little attention to deatil can really pay off...
