Some guy that my friend knows thinks that his Probe GT has a Duratec Engine in it. He also thinks it's the same engine that is in a Contour SVT. I know its not the same engine that's in a SVT Contour and also last time I checked it's the same engine that is in a Mazda MX6. Can someone tell me if I'm right or wrong

I believe you are correct in that the Probe GT & MX6 use the same engine. They both had a 165hp 2.5L V6.

The Probe GT and MX-6 had a Mazda V6 engine with timing belts.
The Contour, Mystique and Cougar have the Duratec with timing chains, edisigned by Ford of Europe with Porsche help.
Two completely different engines.
