There is an online help manual, but it is probably one of the weaker parts of the software package. It is relatively easy to set up, but it takes a while to get an understanding of how OBD-II operates, especially which of the 250 different data values to capture for your specific problem.

Upgrades are available free for the lifetime of the product at the http://www.obd-2.com. I have owned the software for about a year and have downloaded about a half-dozen upgrades (he does one about every two months or so).
You can actually download the software for free even before you purchase it. This way you can take a look at the software and manual provided.
