I was wondering if someone could share a little more info on this. So you actually block a passage in the valve body? Why? Does someone have to directions posted on this step somewhere?

Sorry for sounding so anal on this, I am just the type that before I jump into something, I like to know what is going on before hand.

I want to install this kit as well, although it is not a performance enhancement type kit. It does seem to resolve a lot of issues with the CD4E and the cost pretty much makes it a must have.

I heard back from Level 10 and they want almost $700 for a recalibrated valve body!! Not exactly an option for me.

Yes, you drill out a few existing passages and block one. To block the passage, you camphere the hole so instead of:

| |

you have:

\ /
/ \

you do this with a drill bit and not drilling through the entire plate. I believe this is done to the top VB plate. I will quote the directions tonight when I get home.

Once camphered, you rivet the hole with a small rivet provided and then file both sides flat. What you are left with is a blocked passage. This is the only step of the install that has me hesitant of doing it myself. I am going to talk to a tranny shop today and see what they would charge to install this, the in-line filter and auxillary cooler I plan on buying shortly.

I will keep you updated!

Matt, here is a link to a page that I put together with names to most of the case parts on the CD4E.

CD4E Case Parts

That should give you a decent idea. If not, go outside and look under your battery. See that black pan, well if you were to remove that pan you would expose the valve body.

Yes it can be removed from the car without yanking the tranny... I am not sure of all the steps, but I know that you would have to remove/relocate the A/C Accumulater, battery, battery holder and the radiator. That should give enough room to pull the pan out enough to get it out.

Hey Russell, check here... Transmission Exchange. If you call them, they can answer some of the questions that you might have about it also.

and Matt, not a problem. I wish I could have been more specific, but the Ford manual list it has a bench procedure.

I paid $42 shipped from http://netgearhead.com/store/parts/view_parts.asp?grp=230&app=2

Keep in mind that you will be rebuilding the valve body, so you will also need OEM gaskets & seals since the VB top plate must be removed and modified.
