No. It does not require a location that has access to the FEAD system.

The reason this type of S/C setup would require removal of the A/C system is because it would be occupying that location. Thus completely eliminating the jackshaft & all it's flaws (parasitic drag, flexing, etc)

Then they could run the piping through one of their 2-core intercoolers and around to the intake side.

The biggest obstacle IMO would be routing the intake to the S/C unit itself since everything is setup on the driver's side.
