Okay today I put on my optimzed throttle body on my 98 contour SVT, I bought on CEG through the classifieds from JBM Performance. Anyway stamped on the back of it said 4.6? like a stang. And it was shaped differently than mine was, But it bolted up, I had to modifiy the throttle cable and a litle bit had to be cut off the spring action thing because at full throtle it would hit the intake manifld. I had to buy a new TPS for my svt because I could not get the old one off, so when it was all back together I started it up and it idled realy high for a moment then it dropped to about 1000rpm and stayed there, Then drove it and it would not drop rpms it mainly stayed around 4000 rpm,and my check engine light came on. My question is since it said 4.6 on the tb I think it did come of a mustang because of the mods I did to make it fit, should I buy a stang 4.6 TPS? Help me please. Thanks

For starters a 65mm has been dyno'd to drop power on even moderately modified SVTs.

It sounds like:

The throttle plate is not closing. (does it fully close?)
They didn't plug the bypass port.
They touched any part of the inner TB where the plate rests.
They shaved the plate down too much or knife edged both sides.
Air is bypassing the top of the gasket were the 65mm flange does not cover.

There's a quick list. I am sure to have missed something.

However from the other things you mentioned it really sounds like whoever did this doesn't/didn't know what changes must be made to the 65mm to get it to work on the Duratec. So going from that who knows what else they did not do???

Just to clear my name here. Qwk98svt e-mailed me back after he got a new TPS and it works fine now. I have done dozens of these, and I know what to touch and what not to. From now on, I will send the 4.6L tps along with the tb. I had one on my SVT when I had it and never had any idle problems or anything. Maybe he damaged the old tps while trying to remove it. Penetrating oit works wonders for those loctited screws on the TPS. Anyway Qwk98svt, enjoy it!
