I just put one in on Tuesday. The sensor is located under the thermostat housing.The one on top is for the fans the one on the bottom is for the gage. I don't know about a third one.
It took me a while to find the correct part,the auto parts couldn't match up the plug. The one I ended up with is a Borg/Warner part #WT6.I hope this helps.
