I disagree. Sports are global now, with Athletes from all over the world. Why do we play ANY National Anthems before sporting events when not all of the athletes involved are represented?

The way I see it, unless you're playing a sport that internationally represents your country (ie. in the Olympics) then there is no need for the anthem before the game. If you must have an anthem, though, how 'bout only the country's anthem that the home team's city represents?

I remember as a kid (not THAT long ago) that the National Anthems were actually televised. Now, it's just another spot for a TV timeout before the game starts.
