Kind of off-topic, I know, but the only "shiz" I can recall Gretzky talking about the US was that he felt Canada had a better education system for his kids. Gretzky has always been one of the classiest pro athletes EVER, and HE STILL LIVES IN THE US, so obviously he dosn't dislike it that much. He is very proud to be a Canadian AND US citizen, and HIS KIDS ARE AMERICAN!
And besides, ONE Canadian guy giving his OPINION of the US is enough to make you "give up" on Canada? I'm afraid you're the kind of person these pro / anti war threads are all about.

feeling sensitive huh  ...gretz said something that was considered controversial at the time...im sorry i dont remember the specific comment, maybe about the olympics or something???...im not saying it was serious enough to damage relationships, but it was surprising coming from him...
i tried to follow the l.a. kings back when they upset edmonton in the 1st round playoff series in 81 or 82... he helped lead the kings to their only finals appearance...i know about him his wife and all that good stuff...
