some people are ignorant.. but you can't use that as a general example of all people from a country.. last time I checked that was stereotyping.. how you people are reacting kind of upsets me.. a collection of canadians booed our anthem.. ALL of the canadians that I have ever met have more respect for america and enything for that matter than you will ever have.. don't bash canadians!

Kind of off-topic, I know, but the only "shiz" I can recall Gretzky talking about the US was that he felt Canada had a better education system for his kids. Gretzky has always been one of the classiest pro athletes EVER, and HE STILL LIVES IN THE US, so obviously he dosn't dislike it that much. He is very proud to be a Canadian AND US citizen, and HIS KIDS ARE AMERICAN!
And besides, ONE Canadian guy giving his OPINION of the US is enough to make you "give up" on Canada? I'm afraid you're the kind of person these pro / anti war threads are all about.

feeling sensitive huh  ...gretz said something that was considered controversial at the time...im sorry i dont remember the specific comment, maybe about the olympics or something???...im not saying it was serious enough to damage relationships, but it was surprising coming from him...
i tried to follow the l.a. kings back when they upset edmonton in the 1st round playoff series in 81 or 82... he helped lead the kings to their only finals appearance...i know about him his wife and all that good stuff...
my post was mostly in jest

Well its not like the canadian anthem has ever been boo'd so dont make a big deal of it. I do thing the protesting is stupid and disagree how my government is refusing to support the US in the war. I disagree with the reason to take military action so far BUT now that the US is at war we mine as well support them so it goes as smoothly as possible! This is mainly a post so you americans don't think its every Canadian against you right now, but a lot are for the action also. I just hope we get this over with soon with as few casualties possible.

Any stereotyping an entire country's people by the actions of a few is silly on anybody's part.
Yes the booing of the anthem was classless and showed sheer ignorance of the part of the folks there that did it. However like someone else stated. They've booed their own anthem too so you have to take that group of people with several grains of salt and not say since one small but outspoken group feels and acts as such the entire country does.

Be careful there ChriSVT, I made similar comments earlier and got trashed for it. Anyway, there's always a few idiots who paint the rest with the same brush. Canada is an awesome country (all of it as a whole). I was born in England, and have been in Canada most of my life now. If I had to represent any country, I'd wear the Canadian flag proudly. Jonnie
