Kind of off-topic, I know, but the only "shiz" I can recall Gretzky talking about the US was that he felt Canada had a better education system for his kids. Gretzky has always been one of the classiest pro athletes EVER, and HE STILL LIVES IN THE US, so obviously he dosn't dislike it that much. He is very proud to be a Canadian AND US citizen, and HIS KIDS ARE AMERICAN!
And besides, ONE Canadian guy giving his OPINION of the US is enough to make you "give up" on Canada? I'm afraid you're the kind of person these pro / anti war threads are all about.
Sorry, that comment just touched a nerve... you know, us Canucks and our hockey, eh!

All those people booing your anthem are blind. They cannot see that we depend entirely on the US. Our financial situation mirrors the US, our exports need the US, our country simply needs the US. They are also blind to the fact that even if this war actually was about oil, the end result will be the downfall of a madman who kills innocent people just because he can.
I find it funny that because a bunch of idiots from Canada boo the American anthem, some of you are angry at all Canadians and trash us. I'm canadian, I didn't boo your anthem. I think our prime minister is a jellyfish that won't do anything that doesn't benefit himself in some way. I think we should be behind the war in full helping the british and american forces like in the past. But what does it matter, I'm Canadian... that's really lame guys.
We could send all our troops. They likely would be a cleanup crew more than anything, rescuing survivors, finishing off after the main assault. At least they would be there and have a purpose. Unfortunately, the cost of having a military would cut into politician's salaries, and into the budgets, so it is generally being phased out. Eventually we'll have a canoe and a stick for our main military armament.
That said, there are some people from the United States that dislike all Canadians now because some of us don't support the war. Get your head out of your ass. There are a good number of Americans that oppose the war too. Instead of being angry a group of people for the opinions of some. Go yell at your neighbor for letting his dog poop on your lawn, at least that will be productive.
Why can't we all aim this hostility at the people who deserve it? Namely terrorists and insane dictators
Incidentally I think calling french cut potatoes "freedom fries" instead of french fries is one of the most retarded ideas on earth, almost surpassing Metallica suing any company that uses the word Metal in thier name.

I agree with LBuzzer. Classless Quebecers. They'll only be happy if they can separate from Canada outright. Maybe they'd even send the Montreal Canadians to the Olympics as their national hockey team. Then we can boo their "national" anthem and see how they like it!! Jonnie

You're an ass! I'm from Ottawa and now live here in Montreal with CEGers Pascal and J-Lab. They're as classy as any Canadians. I had my doubts about Quebec prior to moving here, but getting to know them has made me realize how valuable Quebec is to the rest of Canada.
The idiots booing at the game last night are as guilty as the Americans burning their own flags in peace protests across the US - not very honourable actions, but the actions of a select few.
Canada cannot be to blame for any of your frustrations. It's the huge divide in opinion that's got everybody hating everyone else - nothing more.

My opinion is that it is a selct few, both here in the US and in Canada, that are "preaching" hate. Just so the Canadians know i am not one of the few USers that believe that canadians hate us.
I feel thoes who hate are just not informed or are simple minded people that don;t know any better. I for one will not hold it agains them, becasue i know i am better than that.
i can only hope that people can grow up and communicate instead of hidding in there own little worlds and thinking that the world is about them.
I for one still support the US and Canadian people...I will not judge a country for what a select few do

i don't HATE canada, i don't really hate anyone. well, there are a few. anyways, i just think that it's f-ed up how their government and most canadians i've met are. be it only 5 when i worked at the gas company 3 years ago, but still. they told me that america is just a bunch of "pre-madonnas" (sp?) and pretty boys that are spoiled. but i was cool with them so it was cool. so, i guess it's more government than people, but the ones i met had bad things to say.
if canada went to war with someone would the USA help? we would be the first in line to offer ANY assistance.

I understand both sides fo this war. Just my opinion. Alpha
you boycott someone to show that if they don't help you won't help them. why should we help the economy in france if they won't help us rid the world of saddam?
BTW-you can always come back and visit your family. i would never be embarrassed of my country no matter where i was from.
Just my opinion though
Im embarrassed for that fact that the US just went ahead and did what we want rather then listening the World. I mean granted he MIGHT be a threat but why not just wait for the world to help us, instead of sending OUR people to die. I guesse im just mad because my brother is over there, will he come back? i dont know and it haunts me everyday that he wont and for what??? What would my brothers death justify??
Boycotting a country becaue they wont HELP us, maybe they dont find him a threat so why help us get rid of someone they dont have any need to get rid of hom, who isnt threating us. Do you think if someone threated France and we didnt care, would we help them? If we didnt would they boycott us??
Again these are my opinions and since it is a Free coountry i can express them Alpha

Yeah, I've stood to the British national anthem in Ireland and it never got booed. This is a poor show from Canadians, I had thought better of them than this.

not threatening? some people amaze me, how is a mad man (can we at least agree he's insane) with a nuclear aresonal not threating to anyone?
France gets most of their petro form iraq, that's why they have the interest in them. and if for some reason someone spent 3 hours to take over france, the USA would help no doubt about it b/c that's the kind of people we are. helpful
EDIT: if he's no threat then why are his own people celebrating to see USA soldiers?
