The MLP sensor for the Zetec is on top of the transmission and next to the air filter box. It has a "D" marking on it and it has one connector attached to it. You can order it from Autozone for $69.99. To replace it, put the shift knob to neutral and you will notice two notch on center of the MLP forms a straigh line with another notch on the sensor housing. Remove two screws and install the new sensor and match the three notch into a straight line. Both Haynes and Chilton has better detail instructions. The Haynes manual refer this as the "Selector Level Position Sensor" and the Autozone tecnical person tell me the common term for this is "Neutral Safty Switch".
