What is the part number for our tail lights, my mom's just burned out, and I bought the sylvania 1157, but there is no way it will fit. The sylvania web site told me that is what I need, as did the little store machine.
So what is it?
Thanks

The tail light which goes bright when braking or turn signaling, is an 1157. (It has 2 filaments inside) The high-mount brake light is a 2273 on the older tours anyway. The backup light is an 1156. Where is this light bulb you are trying to replace and why wouldn't an 1157 fit?

This may or may not help. I notice you have a '99. Take the bulb out and bring it to the store to match up. I have a 98.5 and when I asked for the bulb at the parts counter, they gave me the wrong one.. pre '98 I think. The pre 98 bulbs are different, so bring the bulb in and match them.

that little machine is so frustrating! you'd think it would have the right information but it doesn't. you needed the bulb to have a square end but the ones you got were round right? samething here...

yeah, I don't have an 1157, the bulb I have is flat connector instead of a round one.
Oh speaking of which, 1157 bulbs(not Long Life) are on clearance at Meijers, $.56 for 2.
Oh well, I will just go to the dealer tomorrow.

when I showed it to the parts guy, the look on his face was priceless. My look was identical when I pulled out the tail light with the 1157 in hand, I just kept looking back and forth.

Rachel: 1157 standard dual filament bulb in American cars where stop/turn/tail are in one lens 1156 single filament bulb used primarily for imports where stop, tail and turn have separate lenses.
pros & cons to both designs.

Damn, I just did the same thing ... bought an 1157... pulled out the brake light and was just like, "Huh! Typical." I'm going back to find the right bulb tonight.
