I know Saddam is a bad man and he deserves to have a bullet put in his head, but I'm starting to have second thoughts on this war. I know a military campaign will work, but we seem to be getting a lot of powerful nations, really pissed off at us. China for example. I can deal with France and Germany hating us, because I hate them, but now we are getting a nation with a huge army and missles that could easily hit the west coast. Also, I think we are neglecting a more serious threat in North Korea. I want to see Saddam lose more power and for us to put a better watch on Iraq, but I don't want to have every other nation in the world turn its backs on us. I just think the U.S. should take a little more time, plan this out better and be careful.

Now I know I'm starting to scare some of you, but don't worry, I'm not about to go protest, because those people are just crazy. I'm all about kicking Iraqs ass, but I would like to see a little more love from other nations that have big armies and nuclear weapons (eg Russia, China)

Iraq has been given 12 years and UN resolutions were signed by these very same countries which are calling our actions illegal. Why put wording in these resolutions that call for severe consequences if they aren't going to act on them? What now would severe consequences mean if you didn't follow up with anything? The UN has turned itself in to a paper tiger with no bite.

You're not the only one having second thoughts.

The top National Security Council official in the war on terror (Rand Beers) resigned this week amid concerns in the anti-terrorism and intelligence community that an invasion of Iraq would divert critical resources from the war on terror. In addition from what I've read there is a belief in the intelligence community that an invasion of Iraq will cause more terrorism than it will prevent.

The CIA warned Congress last year that an invasion might lead to a rise in terrorism.

At least the Iraqis will be liberated. Yay.

^ Tell that to Bush.

Aren't we looking for Osama, fighting in Afghanistan, and starting a war with Iraq all at the same time. N.Korea is probably next.

...and you say one problem at a time.

Don't you think an aggressive campaign in Iraq won't send a message to N. Korea that the US is more than capable of taking care of business. Of course, N. Korea's leaders are absolutely insane I believe and willing to let their citizens starve to death by the thousands, so I don't think they care about any message we are sending...

As far as Korea goes, I think the damn ungrateful S. Korean government and vocal majority would start singing a different tune if the US said, "OK, you don't want us here? Bye." and left. Why should I care about Korea? There's no oil there, just cheap electronics and cars, and those are now or will shortly be available from China, right? </sarcasm>

I am not for the war either, but take it easy. Of course countries will disagree with us, our own people disagree with us. No country is going to risk war, be it conventional or nuclear, with the US over some country like Iraq.

This is true..the showing in iraq and afganistan is a also a sign to other countries such as N korea and china,"wich both have had its share of support and aid from the US in the last 55 years" and now have decided to shore up there own intrest in the global world,I dont beleive that any country would risk a battle with the U.S over iraq or any country in this world...

Another thing,I being a vet.of two wars and many missions in bosnia beleive that the U.N just dosent work ,it never did ,it never will, the U.N by dragging its feet is the main reason why what is happening now is going to happen in the future, and as former U.N peacekeeeper i will say its time for a change in this world, and the UNITED STATES is the only country that will make it happen, provided the 58% of the population wich is mostly foreign to this land or americans dis intersted in any politacal ceartinty, get off there ass and quit collecting a check, and do somthing good...join the armed forces,or be a productive member of society,do charity work or somthing..Most americans have it easy and they think if it dosent directly effect them ,it dosent really matter

Correct. It will not work because despite the name, the nations are not united. But there is nothing wrong with having a large meeting body where countries can chit chat.

The UN is pointless. Their inspectors are pointless. How much time do they really need?

Inspector: Hey, what's that missile shaped thing under the blankey with a biohazard sign on it?
Iraq Dude: A cadillac
Inspector: Oh...can I see it?
Iraq Dude: No
Inspector: ::scribbles stick figures on pad:: Ok, carry on then.

Do you really think Saddam would go seek UN approval before he attacked the US? Heh.

You're not scaring me at all. Someone mentioned more terrorist attacks coming from this war. Yeah and? ANYTHING we do at this point will make us more of a target to terrorists. The only reason there hasn't been anymore terrorist attacks is because everyone is on the run. The terrorists NEVER expected a president who would hunt them and blow them the hell up. They're more concerned with staying alive then blowing things up right now. Also, by bombing afghanistan we have disrupted the way these people work. They were running that country, they had money coming in....etc. Not anymore. And, as far as drawing away from the war on terrorism...we launched another strike on Afghanistan last night.

Why is everyone so afraid of North Korea? Assuming they did fire up their nuclear reactors to produce weapons grade plutonium...it'll be atleast a year before they can manufacture a nuke. Iraq is the greater threat at this point. Who cares if China is pissed at us? They'll get over it. Drsvt is right...nobody's going to fight with us over iraq. The war will end much like the previous one 12 years ago.
