Thanks guys! It doesn't look or sound all that hard. It looks tedious as hell though. I have had my TB off already and hae ripped my entire intake apart countless times. I can do this. I will order the gaskets and prepare to carpool with my other half for a week or so while my car is down. She will be sooo happy.

I've heard a lot of stories about these engines hitting a wall around 4 to 5 thousand, and it's usually turned out to be a fuel pump problem, see if it only happens with fuel level under 1/4 tank. If that's the case, your fuel pump is getting ready to go.

I never let my fuel level go below 1/2 tank. I have heard too many people complaining of tank sediment being sucked up.

Do I need to pencil you in for a few hours? I've been thinking it was time for a good break-down, cleaning and gasket-replacing party on the Zetec for a while - maybe I should order a few things as well... I'll even see what info my magic DVD has to offer.

pollo_loco69...How many miles were on that car when you cleaned the LIM? Just cleaned mine at 66K and no where near as bad. Just used some carb cleaner and the pressure alone cleaned it!

Great pictures Crazy Chicken! Mine looked exactly like yours, cleaned mine a bit over 60,000. Never removed the LIM but did a excellent cleaning if i may say so. Use a little Brake Cleaner for the Hard Spots. Takes the crap out faster. Oh Yeah Clean that Throttle Body Good also. Check out my Homepage in the Mod sections for a clean Intake.

Do the part numbers for the gaskets listed in the FAQ good for 98- Contours? The FAQ says 95-97 only...

You can order them from www.fordpartsonline.com go through and pick the year, ford, contour, mechanical, Fuel System, Fuel Induction, Intake, Manifold Gasket, Contour, Mystique, 2.5L. It lists them there. You need one upper and two lower. HTH

Check out my Homepage in the Mod sections for a clean Intake.Thanks. It is Horse(Scot)'s car. He had 58-59,000 on it. We are tearing into it again tomorrow. Those pics were taken about 2-3 weeks ago and I will get some new ones that show how clean things are now.
