I think years down the road we will see this as a land mark decision by the US, helping the negotiating power of the UN. The UN voted on a act to disarm Iraq or severe consqeuences would be forth coming. Twelve years after this act passed he is still not complying. By the US acting on the original terms of the deal, the world will realize that someone is willing to enforce the UN's policies even after the UN themselves have backed down. We are following through with what was set out 12 years ago. The UN is proving to be as spineless as used car salesman. Why bother making policies if you aren't going to enforce them. No one wants war, but if we don't stop renegade dictators from disobeying the UN the UN will truely be rendered useless.

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

At least in Canada it will be OK to be an atheist for years to come without being thrown in jail.
I'm afraid what will happen to me after Bush and Asscroft turn their attention to making this their Christian Nation.

That's part of the process. If we don't like the fact that decisions are made behind closed doors, and we aren't informed as to the reasons why, then we can vote someone in who promises to open those doors. This is how the process works. We don't like it, we change it.
I simply think that people are too quick to criticize decisions, especially when issues aren't clearly black and white. Whatever happened to the "benefit of the doubt"? People can criticize George W. all they want - I know I have from time to time - but as far as I'm concerned he has the toughest job in the world.
well, you can cast my vote towards opening doors.
one of the reasons people criticize the war is because those issues aren't black and white - no one is confortable with the "benefit of the doubt" when thousands of lives are at stake.
and yeah, president of the USA is a pretty tough job.

Kind of. Of course the issues aren't black and white - hence the "doubt". But we elect leaders to make decisions based on this doubt, and we have to have faith in them. Hence the "benefit".

it has been a christian nation since it was founded, and it is because of it's christian roots that you and I can spout off whatever we want, even if it is absurd and ignorant!

this is NOT a christian nation, although the majority of the population may be christians. and i don't think it has anything to with the freedom of speech. you're way off base on this one, imho.

ehy, i have a friend who is a car salesman, he has a little spine
and this country WAS founded on christianity, even the money says "In God We Trust". we do however give anyone the right to practice any religion they want. but founded on it, yes, for sure. catch up on your USA history classes.
