There's a plunger switch mounted on the brake pedal bracket.
My size 13 feet have knocked it out of place a couple times, causing the light to come on. It isn't actually bolted down or anything and if it turns far enough it'll pop out.
It's pretty easy to pop it back into place to fix the problem.
