Please re-read last para of my April 9/02 7:47am post to reinforce your thought.
The ground connection we are talking about is a black wire running to a 10 pin connector (two rows of 5 pins). It shows a wide interlock tab on one side and a smaller on the opposite side. The black wire is the end pin on the wide tab side, the adjacent wire should be red with black stripes.
If you cut this ground (after providing new ground path for timer, as per prior post) then you could run wires to normally closed contacts of a new relay. Then you energize new relay coil when you want to inhibit interior lights (presumably from new security system).
If your after market device had an available NC contact which opened when armed you would not of course need a new relay.
