I recall many discussions about temperature gauges getting high before fans cut it. My gauge never moves, but it is probably programmed to stay in a certain position for a "normal" range of temperagures. I also recall somebody saying that the specs were something like 215-low fans 234-high fans. Those numbers prob aren't exactly right, but is there anyway to modify it so that the engine temp never gets above 210 or so? I know you would have to mess with the engine computer programming, but is there a way to do that without taking it to Ford and paying a million dollars? I don't really care about fuel economy that much, but I would rather have my engine running cooler. By the way, I have a 99 Duratec SE Sport. I would like something perhaps where low fans came in at 200 degree water temp and high fans came on at 210 degrees water temp. Does that sound reasonable? Any help or input would be appreciated. P.S. My car does still have the stock thermostat and it works fine.
