Yeah, that's the "perforation" warranty-dodge used by just about everybody. Unless you can actually see through the metal, you're hosed. Whomever came up with that one should have negotiated a royalty for every time a car under warranty has a rust claim denied.

Maybe you should take a ratty, chewed-up, old screwdriver and a spray bottle full of dissolved rock-salt and "expedite" the perforation.
