I don't know how to test the DPFE without a scanner.
The DPFE measure the difference in exhaust pressure and helps in metering the EGR. The DPFE sends a signal to the processor that helps in determining how much EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) there needs to be. DPFE failure is common.
