While my car was at the dealer for idling problems, the service advisor told me about the moosing noise from my engine. It will cost $184 to do the repairs to fix this. Is it bad for the engine to not do the repair and let it be? Is the TSB (TSB 96195 for the moosing fix)like a recall where the dealer has to perform the repair at no charge, or do I need to pay for it?

Thanks

someone else mat know for sure but from what i have read it will only be covered if you are within the emissions warranty on your vehicle. From what Frod said it is not anything that affects the operation and safety of the vehicle, thus there was never a recall. i have been told that the TH fix will kill the Moose and will cost you about 15 cents. I have not tried this yet. I will go by Ford today and see what they tell me. Hopefully I will have the moose with me when I get there. I will post again after that.

I went to my local Ford shop this morning and they quoted me $120. This is for a new IAC and the installation. I am not sure what you were quoted $184 for. Make sure they are's tacking on some for "cleaning charges" my service mngr told me some places do that. aS FAR AS MY MOOSING... WE STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS- COMES FROM UNDERNEATH THE AIRBOX, NOWHERE NEAR THE IAC. pullin it all apart today to see if i can find anything that looks funny.

TSB only means fix it for free if you are under warranty (bumper to bumper, not emissions in this case). Takes about 1/2 hour to do, working slowly, but some shops will charge a minimum 1 hour for any work. IAC is in the ballpark of $70, so depending on the dealership's labor rate, it might be right on.
