Well I finished my first attempt at a Cold Air Intake. I gotta say it works pretty good. I think it needs to be coated with something to repel heat. It still gets a little warm. Any suggestions?

I used engine paint thinking it would keep it cooler.

Here is a link to my homepage. It has the pics. They are too big to put on this board. Go to performance.

Also, can anyone explain how to post pics and change the size of them on these boards?

That looks great, and professional to boot. I'm curious as how the experts are gonna react.

What filter? Where? Down in the space below the water pump?

I am using the KKM Tru Rev filter. I thought about moving the maf but I decided that it would probably work best the way it came.

You need to dyno that setup to see if it is adding or taking away hp.

Piping was about 70 total with shipping but I have enough to do 2 so if this one doesn't work out then I will have enough for another try. As for dynoing, there isn't any place around here with a dyno so that won't be happening anytime soon. I can feel a difference though. It pulls noticably harder in 2nd and 5th.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem but my engine produces an intense amount of heat; so I think that using thermal tape would probably be the best way to go. I did notice that after using the car for about 30 minutes (driving hard at times) it was pretty hot.

Let me know any suggestions.

You could have the pipe ceramic coated. That would probably help quite a bit.

I am simply asking a question here.. wouldn't it take too long for air to actually get in? so then it would actually have negative results? just a question...

The paint I used was ceramic paint for engines. I actually went out and drove it around for a while and it is only slightly warm. Maybe I just thought it was hot?
