Hi all, I just got my first COntour on Friday, I was curious if some of these things are typical...

it's a 2000 Contour 4 Cylinder,maroon.

In the transmission it self ,when I accelerate I hear a high pitch reving sound. hard to explaine..

Sometimes, when I stop, then take a left or right, it's as if I had manual transmission just learning how to drive, and the whole car studders.

tell em if some of this is typical, Awesome car by the way

Not sure if your talking about an automatic for sure or not??? If you are, the noise and
studdering is not typical. (at least not on the V6 which is same ATX tranny...) Make
sure the fluid level is full and that it is the right type of fluid. If the studdering is from the
transmission, get the fluid changed asap. Sounds very scary, and might as well have
some clean Mercon fluid in there before guessing at other problems. If you just bought it, maybe the old owner filled it with type F fluid found in some other Fords. The fluid shoud be a clear red in color. Brown fluid usually means burnt, overheated trans.
