"WASHINGTON (AP) -- In another swipe at the French, a Florida congresswoman has proposed that the government pay for families who might want to bring home from France the remains of Americans who fought and died in the world wars."
I mean, you'd think they nuked us or something.

Yeah, that is absolutely ridiculous. The level of honor and heroism that those men died in can never be tainted, no matter what France does. I could never dislike the French enough to suggest we pull our bodies out of their soil, and I have no idea what made the lady pull this idea out of her ass.

The remains of those soldiers need to stay right where they are. They are still serving this country as a not so subtle reminder that the U.S. paid much of the the bill for their freedom...THEY are the "paid in full" or "zero balance" part.

It would be an absolute crime to move them over something like this. What they did and what their actions stood for and STILL stand for are SO much larger than this current spat with France...
Politicians come and go (hopefully Chirac will go SOON). National sentiment between countries waxes and wanes. The sacrifice, actions and ideals that are represented by those bodies in that ground should stand as a CONSTANT reminder of what misguided pacificism can do and ultimately cost the free world in terms of lives.
I'm glad France is getting the message loud and clear on our displeasure with their betrayal, but doing this would be going WAY too far and is rather embarassing on our part...

Oh, for pete's sake...
Are the people in Congress REALLY that bored? Or just looking for publicity buttons to push?

Well, looks like I should tell my girlfriend to now refer to one of her toys as a 'freedom tickler'. Maybe afterwards I can eat a salad with 'freedom dressing'. I might even take a shower because I put extra cologne on this morning, and I smell like a 'freedom whore'.
EDIT: you might not get that unless you read the article http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/03/13/sprj.irq.congress.france/index.html
