I switched out my bosch plat 4s they only had 15000 on them and from what I seen they were about gone. I didn't get a good pic of the electrode but have one of the whole plug. I don't know what this burn't haylow around the plug means. maybe you guys could tell me. On a side not my lower intake wasn't that dirty. I think cracking the secondaries helped from letting the gunk build up on the butterflys. The main ports past the injectors were sparkling clean. The secondary ports were so so clean. the upper was in pretty good shape also.

Hard to see from the pic (blury) but the color of your electrode and all suggests running rich or inefficient burning. My NGKs and MotorCraft were lighter and more "text-book" looking...

I think it was the Hayne's manual (?) that said not to worry about the yellow or burned look on the body.
Function before fashion.

If anyone is interested here are my plugs removed last week on 43000 mls, these have been in since new. The Electrodes where very clean and brownish, the bodies quite dark and the threads close to the body very slightly rusty..I think they are not too bad for 43k

I did my plugs at about 42k miles. The front bank looked pretty worn, they were pretty dark colored. The back bank looked much better, with a lighter brown color. Anyone know what might cause this? I think I heard somewhere that it was natural for the front bank to wear out faster, is that true?

Pretty much what mine looked like when I pulled them. They were the second set, installed around 60k and pulled at 106k miles. They looked fine, but I could drive a bus through the plug gaps, which surprized me. New plugs were cheap, relatively easy to install, and made it run better. I'll probably replace them in anther 30k miles.

The brown on the ceramic body is normal from condensation. As far as the tip. It's a Bosch +4 POS. Get Autolite plats or Motorcraft OEM.

How? I know I had +4s in my Saturn and I thought they sucked, but I'd like to know why they hurt performance in our motors?
