On the side of my car there is this white stuff that is very hard to get off. The only way I have been able to get it off is with my finger nail. The area is to big for me to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, please be a little more descriptive. (i.e. what you think it is, how big it is, etc.)

I'm a detailer by trade.. sounds like road paint. Don't use your fingernail. If it is indeed road paint, use lacquer thinner (paint thinner). I know it souunds bad. It will rub it right off and probably remove any wax too. Just use some buffing compound to bring back the shine and use a good wax to keep your baby shiney...

If it is road paint, using a clay bar helped me. I had yellow road paint on my black car and the clay bar took it right off and brought back that smooth shine.

The areas in questin are only on the drivers side. Smaller than a square foot behind front tire and not much behind rear. It is all around the inside of wheel well. I was thinking that it might be the water cement mix created when doing saw cut on roads. It could also be road paint. I have no digital camera so no pics.
