Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums Modifications 3.0L Duratec Where to buy 3L shortblock and $$

I can't believe it, but I am still looking for a 3L.
A new shortblock was $1340 + $500 core at the dealer. Call me paranoid, but do you think a 2.5L would pass as a 3L for the core?

Escape and Taurus the same price. Any more leads? I considered a salvage yard, but figure $500-600 more for an all new may be worth it.
