3 year warranty, but if you read the small print it is voided if it is installed incorrectly(which it was). The only thing I have going for me is the fact that Vortech recomended the installer to me and they failed from the start. I have miles of documentation that was sent to the original installer as well as vortech. I should be in the clear here I hope, I'll find out within a couple days. On the bright side it speeds up my install of the LSD and Clutch now. Since the mechanic is working on my car he said he'll do everything we have been planning to do.

I just called Vortech and any shaft kit (extended drive) is only 1 year, no matter who installed it. Can you check for sure that yours is 3 years? I talked to Jaime at the vortech tech line.
I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

I'm not sure about the warranty on the shaft, I was saying the vortech S/C itself is warrantied for three years. Either way i'm safe with that considering I've only had the kit for 6 months.

Maybe there is someone from the Chicago CEG that would have a car to lend you for a little awhile. They are having a meeting this sunday @ fuddruckers and next sunday @Hooters. If you want, Ride back with me, 4 hours away and I could sell you my Honda Civic for $600.
Sold 1998 Contour LX 13.868 sec 1/4 mile time.
Two years of rental cars, seriously.
Holding out for 07 Cobra Mustang.

What was the weather like? Did you give the car time to warm up? I have heard about people putting ice on their supercharger units and pretty much cracking everything. So I just thought maybe if the weather was pretty chilli then maybe that cracked the impeller. Luckily it didn't bust off up into the engine. Then we would hope your stealership could cover a new engine under waranty. HAHA yeah right....
Anyways good luck with everything. I think a lot of us know what your going through. I went through 3 units and finally ended up selling it due to a blown engine.

How many miles have you put on it since the install? Just wondering.

The supercharger ran good for about 6000 mile's before this happened. I ran the car until my RPMs dropped to 1000 before I took off yesterday, usually I let it drop all the way to 650 but I needed to get moving. I honestly think my drive shaft was misalligned to the supercharger and the bearings wore out prematurely. Hoosier, I might be interested in your civic can you pm me the details, seems good considering I now have to pay over $200 a week for the rental car.

something had to have been wrong to begin with. I have approx 25,000 miles on mine without problem. that a lot longer then the original kit. -Mark

well, I went round and round with the installer after he installed it. Vortech recomended the shop too. I knew that it was a bad install by the second week they had the car. The whole assembly looked crooked after it was installled and a new mechanic i use told me we should realign it because it would fail. The new mechanic was right, unfortunately I couldn't afford to reinstall it after a 52 hr install charge. After the install, the owner of the shop told me he will never touch my car again. So basically I new this was going to happen, and yesterday was the day.
