I have hard water stains on my hood that won't come out. The person who owned my tour before me never waxed the danm thing. She parked it in a car port and water condensation would drip on it every mourning. I tried mothers clay bar and 3 step polish. I even tried turtle wax rubbing compound, a bad idea yhat didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions(other than new paint), maybe a color matched wax ? .

Before you claybarred it, did you strip it of any old wax? In case you didn't know, Dawn is pretty good for this. I don't know that a claybar would remove any wax if it was there and the spots may be under the wax. My best guess.

In extreme cases it is necessary to just repaint if the hard water spots are too badly etched into the paint. I have seen limited success with an acid bath with pool acid, but I don't know the proper dilution. This must be done with extreme care so don't try it unless you are familiar with using such harsh chemicals.

D Davis is right, with the wax having to be ALL off before you claybar it. The claybar will not strip off any wax. You should be able to notice a difference after ALL the wax is gone(dull finish, rough surface, etc.). Then the claybar should work. However, if it is acid rain, repaint is the best and easiest way to fix it(acid rain eats through the clearcoat, which will never come off.)
Good Luck!!!!!

strip the wax, and use a polisher.. buff the crap out of it. Perhaps wetsand it. Don't do either if you don't know how to do them, spend the money and get it done professionally
