Why not just get some good 5.25" mid-ranges and separate tweeters? For the money I'm sure they would sound better than Infinity coaxial. I am using a Vifa 5" mid and Audax tweeter in a custom adapter I made out of 1/4" MDF. Both fit in a 6x8 template for the stock location.

well I say go 6.5 or 6.75 and tweeters. 5.25 lack midbass, better yet put 8's in the doors. I wish I would have gone with 8's in the door.

APT, that could be a possibilty...what kind of crossover are you using? I think the Infinity set runs $150, how much is the one you went with?

A good 5.25" driver can be crossoved over down to about 80Hz which is low enough for a sub to not be localized in a car.

In my SVT I used the old $5ea 2-way Ultimate crossovers. In the truck I used some MB Quart crossovers that I bought from dnewma04. For my current car when I get to it, I will look to eBay most likely. Seem to have options here and there for under $25/set, more for higher order. I would have used the PE $15ea ones, but now they are gone. Or, may make my own. Haven't thought aobut it much as it will be a while before I get to my car.

Where are my tweeters?

Right in the middle of the midrange, where the dustcap would normally be. No, it isn't a coaxial with the tweeter mounted above the woofer, it is a point source driver with the tweeter mounted at the apex of the woofer's cone. Why mess with time alignment when you can get drivers already physically aligned?

These are mounted in custom built kick panels. Yes, the tweeters are in the kick panel, down low.

Check out my web page to see a pic of the passenger side kick panel.

And I beat Anthony Davis (2DEEP2) and his high-mounted Focal Utopia tweeters (I think that is what he had... ) the one time we went head to head in a sound quality only competition. But hey, he is my team-mate and I usually try to help him win.

I made a wood baffle to fit over the 6x8 hole, then I mounted a 6 1/2 and placed the tweeter below it so it's all in the door panel and you can't see anything. Helps keep away the learing eyes.
