I chased and chased an oil leak over the last few months. Replaced the oil pan gasket (which helped somewhat, appears there was insufficient RTV at the crankcase parting line). At least I wasn't dripping oil on the street anymore.
Replaced the valve cover gaskets; didn't help at all. But the leak still appeared to be coming out of the top of the front bank. Showed it to Terry Haines, and he pointed out that the Camshaft Position Sensor was probably the cause of the continuing leak. He grabbed a fresh O-ring seal from one he had laying around, and now I don't leak a drop.
Moral of the story: If you appear to be leaking from the front valve cover gasket at the front of the block, check the Cam Position Sensor first. It's TONS easier to R&R than a valve cover gasket.
